An article is a window of opportunity to the fair few who choose to see it. Why is it so difficult for me to write something that’s so simple. Not complicated or even anything I don’t know. I could choose anything I want, yet I remain behind waiting for money, I fail to earn. Life isn’t as easy as waiting, if it were there would be no poverty, no hunger, no loneliness. The fact of the matter is that laziness engulfs me. A laziness that most of America faces. We stare blankly at the tasks that face us, and instead of grabbing the bull by the balls, we watch as others do it and reap its rewards. For those of you like me, procrastination is more than a problem, it’s a way of life.

Procrastination by definition is the putting off of something. Is this disease incurable? I don’t believe it is. There are many things that can be done to help prevent procrastination. You can start with the small things. When you want to complete a large task it is better to split it into individual tasks. Start with what you think is the easiest. You’ll find out that the hard task you were avoiding wasn’t that hard.

Have you ever had a task that you didn’t want to do, and instead of doing it you cleaned or surfed the web? Its not that uncommon. I call it the distraction procrastination. You think of things to distract yourself, so you don’t have to do something else. The best way to fight it is to remind yourself that it isn’t necessary to clean or surf the web or stare blankly out the window. It takes a tremendous amount of will power, but it isn’t impossible to beat. If it helps, eliminate the area of all distractions, then get to work.

Coinciding with distraction procrastination is fun procrastination. Its when you do something fun like watching movies or playing with your pets. You fail to realize that you are distracting yourself because you are having too much fun. Or you know what you are doing and want to have fun before you start painstaking tasks. The easiest way to get around this one is to promise yourself that fun. If you promise yourself that treat as a reward for completing a task, you will be more apt to complete it.

The next troublesome form of procrastination is the organizational procrastination. Organization or lack thereof refers to a person’s inability to keep tasks organized. The person writes down an appointment or task that isn’t due until much later, and forgets about it. The reminder was never created and the task was left until the night before it is due. The simplest method for prevention is to keep a planner. Organize your thoughts and objectives and ensure their completion.

Procrastination isn’t impossible to absolve. The solutions are there. It just takes time and effort on your part to complete the task. The easiest way is to start. You may realize that the task wasn’t that difficult to begin with. Distractions need to be hidden or created as rewards for hard labor. And most of all you must organize your objectives with a planner. Soon, that annoying job will be in the past.
